Our experienced Neurological Physiotherapists are experts in their field. They will work with you to achieve your personal goals and help to alleviate your symptoms.
Our team can help with a range of neurological conditions including:
Post stroke
Vertigo or dizziness
Parkinson’s Disease
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Traumatic Brain Injury
Spinal Cord Injury
Functional Neurological Disorder
Cerebral Palsy
Balance or mobility issues
(including prescription of Enable walking aids)
Stroke
Working with a physiotherapist after stroke can help promote re-wiring of the brain, to improve lost function and quality of movement. Specific neurological physiotherapy can help with symptoms of weakness, muscle tightness, reduced balance and mobility. We also work with clients on intensive programs to improve arm movement after stroke, including Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy(CIMT). Ask our team if this might be appropriate for you.
Parkinson’s Disease
Specific types of exercise can help reduce the symptoms of Parkinson’s, especially if commenced soon after diagnosis. Our physiotherapists will work with you to develop a program specialised to your specific needs.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Many of the symptoms of MS are also alleviated through exercise. Hydrotherapy is one great example – our physiotherapists can help develop a hydrotherapy program for you and / or take you through your exercises in a hydrotherapy pool.
Traumatic Brain Injury / Concussion
Much like with stroke, your brain after a traumatic brain injury can be “re-wired” to help improve your mobility and function. We’ll work with you to develop a personalised exercise program and offer you tools and advice that can help you with your individual symptoms.
Our expert neurological team can help with:
Strengthening of your core, arms and/or legs
Electrical stimulation (for weakened muscles)
Walking aids including recommendation for Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFO)
Balance
Cardio-vascular retraining
Stretches
Mobility
